    I use Handbrake. You can adjust output pixel size + bitrate, crop black bars etc

    FormatFactory is a free alternative. Make sure to uncheck decline the PUPs during install if you try it. Has a simple GUI interface

    I have tried some free video converter, Handbrake is good. Also there are some free online video converters listed here.

    2. Convert.Files
    3. YouConvertIt
    4. onlinevideoconverter.com
    5. FileWiggler
    6. Online Video Converter
    7. ClipConverter.cc

    But all of them are not perfect, a functional one maybe paid.
