Mystery: music plays, can't stop, WMP not open (!!) ?

This is odd, I know. I programmed the computer to wake me up later on Saturday. I made a new playlist for that day. ONLY on that day, THAT playlist opens and plays and yet, the Windows Media Player is not open. !! Huh? I go to task manager... not running... processes? not running... I open WMP... nothing running...

What the heck is playing the playlist? How do I find out?

    Hi,
    Use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
    Cheers.

    Hi,
Any progress with clean boot to find out which startup or service that was causing the issue ?

I didn't try it. Instead I specified which program to run and now it runs in wmp as it ought to have since that's the default for those playlists. It was a week to test it (only once weekly) and I didn't want to be bothered. I just wanted to know what was playing my music if not VLC or WMP. Is there a way to find out what programs play music on my machine? A line command?

I'd say post how exactly you programed this playlist to play as a alarm.
Windows media center is a windows feature able to play music I believe ?

I programmed it through Computer Management/Task Scheduler. I chose new task and selected the day under trigger, chose weekly, programmed it under action to play the .wpl file.

That's it! WMC plays, true, but it doesn't play without WMP and WMP sharing service also running. In any case, I checked all programs running and none of them were: not wmp, wmc, wmp sharing service, nor VLC. It's a pity I didn't take a snapshot of the processes running at the time.

Do you know of a line command that will tell me in cmd what processes are capable of playing music? I notice that the ease of access voice doesn't play through wmp. Can't figure out how that program would play the .wpl file though since it's programmed to open only withe wmp. BTW that's another reason wmc couldn't play it. It also wasn't running at the time.
