On Win7 and Win10 laptops - what do I need to play DVD movies?

I want to play movies from DVDs that were made to be played on DVD-for-TV players. I have two laptops. The laptops are a Dell with Windows 7 Pro and an HP with Windows 10 Home. The Dell has an internal R/W DVD and the HP does not have an internal DVD but I have an external R/W DVD for it.

Q -- What do I need to do to play DVD movies on these computers?

Windows Media player is included with win7. Works fine for me.

Perhaps you haven't got it set up.

Type media in the start search box, and it will appear at the top of the list. Click it, then follow the prompts.

Other players have extra features, a popular free one is VLC. VideoLAN - Download official VLC media player for Windows
