why is it that when I

why is it that when i uninstall my photo program (lightroom) and then delete all the pictures from my library pictures folder, which should then result I would think, in the items being "gone" from the HD they are NOT. When I re-install lightroom it finds all the pictures that I thought were gone and rebuilds the program with the pictures. Windows does this with all programs and folders. When I uninstall and/or delete something I want it absolutely GONE from the HD. How can I do this?

Use a program such as "Revo Uninstaller Pro" (they offer a free demo version). It will uninstall a program, allow you to search the registry for left over items and also search folders for left over items.

Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstall Software, Remove Programs easily, Forced Uninstall, Leftovers Uninstaller, Portable Uninstaller

When you delete a file (e.g. a picture), it is actually not physically deleted but only marked as deleted (available space). But that may only be overwritten a lot later - like next year. In the meantime it is simple to retrieve that file.

Is it possible that the picture files are stored 2 different places on your hard drive? Lightroom simply finds what pictures you have on your hard drive and builds a database from what it finds. So if they are on your hard drive in 2 different places and you delete them from only 1 place then it can still find them and rebuild it's DB.

There's no way lightroom is automatically recovering files that you previously deleted.
