Looking for a free, easy-to-use, full-featured audio player

Not necessarily to be repeating myself, but I am looking for a free, easy-to-use, full-featured audio or media player. (I do not need and editing capacities.)

When I say full-featured, I am looking for a free, easy to use audio or media player that has not less than the features contained in the PRO versions of WinAmp and JRiver Media Center.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

For your convenience, I included the players on sevenforums's "List of FREE Great Programs for Windows 7" and from another very helpful posting here.

NOTE: I did not include the free versions or Winamp or JRiver Media Center because they do not meet the criteria above.

AIMP - AIMP is a full-featured free music player designed with sound quality and wide, customizable functionality in mind. Over twenty audio formats are supported. Audio is processed in 32-bit for crystal-clear sound. The player features a 18-band graphics equalizer with extra built-in sound effects. You can extend the existing functionality adding Input, DSP and Gen plug-ins from Winamp. All local and global hot keys are customizable. Full Unicode support. You can convert AudioCD to MP3, OGG, WAV or WMA. Similarly, you can grab sound from any audio device on your PC to MP3, OGG, WAV or WMA formats.

foobar2000 - foobar2000 is an advanced freeware audio player for the Windows platform. Some of the basic features include full unicode support, ReplayGain support and native support for several popular audio formats.

GOM Media Player - GOM Media Player is media player program that has a lot of features.

KMPlayer - KMPlayer is a video and audio media player which can play a large amount of formats such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, Real-Media, and QuickTime among others. It handles subtitles and allows you to capture screenshots. You can set audio and video effects, slow down or increase playback speed, select parts of a video as favorites, and many more. KMPlayer is completely customizable with a wide selection of skins and color schemes, and the configuration options are extensive.

Media Player Classic Home Cinema - Media Player Classic Home Cinema is a free audio and video player for Windows.

MediaMonkey Free – MediaMonkey Free is a music manager and player with a lot of features.

MusicBee - Play your music the way that you want. Manage large music libraries and easily find what you want to hear. Easily add metadata to your music with a number of powerful tools. Utilize your Internet connection to automatically find useful information about your music collection or the currently playing song. Create the perfect party playlist and turn your computer into a music jukebox. Add songs from your CD collection to your library and sychronise with your devices. Create your own unique look and feel, and add more features with plugins. Get the most out of your speakers with tools for those who sound quality matters. Learn how to accomplish certain tasks and field your questions in the MusicBee community forum. Countless other features with more being added all of the often.

VLC Media Player - VLC Media Player is an open-source application that gives you the ability to play media from your computer or a disk, or to stream it from the Web. Have your favorite videos playing in a snap through this app's intuitive interface. From VideoLAN Project: VLC (initially VideoLAN Client) is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, MP3, and OGG, as well as for DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It also can be used as a server for unicast or multicast streams in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network. What's new in this version: This version fixes numerous crashes (FLAC, SPC), codec issues (VP9, Atrac3, AAC), regressions and several issues (Resume, MP4 chapters, MKV over network), and security issues.

Potplayer - Multimedia player with many features.

Add MusicBee to your list of players to research.

Note: Does not play video but can add video to playlist and open in default video player which in my case is PotPlayer with MadVR plugin.

You were and still are absolutely right! VLC Media Player is extremely popular.

However, when I put VLC Media Player on the list, I was under the impression that it offered audio file conversion capabilities just like JRiver Media Center.

In my original post, when I said I wanted all of the same features that WinAmp PRO and JRiver Media Center offered, I certainly never expected to get ALL of the features, but being able to convert between different types of audio files was one of the more important capabilities. FYI... Converting FLAC to MP3 is perhaps the conversion I do most frequently.

So, VLC Media Player needs to come back off the list and I should probably delist any other player that do not offer audio file conversion.

WOW... The things we learn every day!

    Appreciatively,

    Firebird,

Are you ready to laugh a little? Read past PotPlayer's 6-word description. Isn't that funny? I had VLC Media Player there all along, but had hidden it well.

For file conversion I would recommend Format Factory.

Still no MusicBee on that list.

Converters and extractors (to get audio from a video file): Audio and video converters, system utilities and other free programs - Pazera-Software
all run from an exe - no install needed

    Then I play with VLC.
