Awesome program, see this thread too.

I am already the 26th person to make an account to thank you, your program is just magnificently googleable :P
Also on this forum, and related, is This Thread, which is about making the windows photo viewer display the animation instead of getting a different program. I trust this .exe to work in newer/older Windows versions too though, so keeping it for just that.

Checked, it's legit. Apparently someone actually got around to just copying and pasting the image viewer from windows XP, and then write a registry patch for it. That is literally what this is. You could even open all images with it if you wanted to feel like you're using XP

I thought of doing this before, but I was a bit busy at the time and forgot about it. It's nice to see someone else got around to it.

Bottom line: It's clean, it's simple, I like it.

Try putting out the idea to make a codec for WIC to support animated gifs

I also made this because IE took to long to start up.
    gifview.exe
Set This as the default program to view gif images. It is written in GDI+, so you can expect the same level functionality as the onw in win XP. As it was written by me, I can taylor it to suit your needs. Source available on request

    EDIT
Someone decided to take the windows XP image viewer, wrap it in an installer, and release it as a patch. Wolfzoon was the one who showed me it, props to him
Windows 7 Gif Viewer Works perfectly
I've looked over it, it seems clean and runs just like it did on XP. This is a much MUCH better option.
    Works perfectly!
    - You don't have to install anything. Run gifview.exe, it does nothing.
    - But what you do is you simply locate the file "gifview.exe" when you choose your
    - standard program for opening gif images :)

I installed this and enabled the run32dll to be XP compatible. I am running Windows 7 32. Whenever I click on a gif, the UAC control dialog comes up. How can I stop that?

I wanted to ask corgano or anyone else, if they could upload the gifview.exe somewhere again because when I try to download it, it says the file has been removed and I can't find it anywhere else.
