    WMP 12 starting to fail

I have been using the Player with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits for more than 5 years without any problem. I established the Music Library as the only site with which the Player would look for music. I had a music folder in the Documents Library to download music for further examination. Some ended in the Music Library and other in the dust bin. About three weeks ago the Player raided the music folder of the Documents Library and added a lot of discs and songs. In many cases each song appears as if it was a disc. The problem is the Player does not allow me to eliminate anything. It is a complete mess. My question : How can I eliminate all that I don't want in the Player? Appreciate any help.

Hello and welcome corogrez first up my friend I would be running these
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2 in safe mode

    if no go then these

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
    Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
    AdwCleaner Download
delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)

I am not real sure why you are storing music in the docs library - I guess you have your reasons but seems to me it is making double work for the machine why not just save it to Music and if you need to do other stuff with it put individual items into docs for what you want.

The other thing about removing form the player do you mean deleting the album or artist from the WMP listings? all I do is remove them by right click and delete but remember the music you delete from there doesn't get deleted from the music library.

Thanks for the suggestion. Fortunately I have solved the problem with a simple procedure I found in another forum:
    Press Microsoft+R
In the dialog box type: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Media Player
This brings you to a page with the Player files. Delete all
Open a Player. At first it seems empty but in a few minutes the Player library rebuilds itself from the Windows Music Library. That´s all.

Well done then but please keep my suggestions for other little things that may pop up.

Just as a by the by you might like to use this tutorial to help make your machine more efficient and a tad faster.
