Renamed JPGs immediately auto-revert to old name

I noticed the names were peculiar, because the format was mentioned in the NAME as well as in the extension. Also some of the JPGs had '16-character-code' names. They were all the result of downloads/save-as from the web.

I recieve e-mails with jpegs attached. When I click on the attachment, it will not open automatically, I have to open Photoshop first. Is there a way round this please?? RonBin79

I recovered numerous pics off a duff SD disk to my hard drive. The friend, whose pictures they are, uses a Mac. Is there a application whereby I can can put them on a disk readable by the Mac?
