Mysterious 'tag' on an mp3 file

Hi. As you can see from the attachment, I have an album where one of the songs shows a picture. It's displayed in all 3 of my players - WMP, PotPlayer and VLC. What I cannot understand is why there is no cover art present when I open the file in mp3tag.

How was that 'tag' put on and can it be removed?

Thank you.

I know nothing about the mp3 tag software you are using. My suggestion is to try the portable (no install) version of:
TagScanner 6.0.17
Run the program then switch to the "Tag Editor" tab and scan the folder containing the problem music file using the "browse" button.

In the list of tracks displayed you should be able to see which ones contain embedded cover art. Highlight the problem track then in the right pane scroll down to "Embedded Art"

To the left of the image there are a few buttons. Hover your mouse over each one and click the one that is for "Clear Field"

Then at the bottom of the window click "Save"

Exit the program.

Hi Callender and thanks for that. TagScanner doesn't think there's a picture on that track either. Never mind though, I'm not unduly bothered about it.

Okay if there's no cover art maybe it's an explorer thumbnail issue. Try clearing thumbnail cache:
Thumbnail Cache - Clear and Reset
The batch file should do it.

Also I notice from your screenshot that it's a shared folder. Personally I keep sharing disabled.

Thanks again. Cache clearing had no effect, though. I didn't think it would as I'd only just downloaded that album and the picture was on that track from the start. I need that folder to be shared as it's how I get my albums transferred to my hi-fi system.

Currently the only thing I can think of is to make a backup copy of the file then try converting to a different audio format and then convert back to mp3.

Nah, the integrity of the audio comes first. I'm not bothered about the picture but I would have liked to have known how it got there. Thanks for all your suggestions.
