    Transferring videos

I have some DVDs containing mp4 videos that I downloaded 3 or 4 years ago via my domestic recorder/player.
For ease of use in future I would now like to transfer them to an external memory.
Can I send them directly from one to the other or do I first 'park' them in the pc and then send them to the memory?
Do I have to buy a special device?
If I download a program for doing this will Kaspersky make sure that it is not evil?

    Advice please.
    Thanks.

If they are mp4 you can copy directly just like any other file no tool needed

    Thanks, just as I hoped.
It is worth asking these stupid questions because there are so many dangers in innocently clicking on offered programs and they are never-ending, so this, with all its experts, is the best place to ask.
    Thanks again.
