Windows 7 Movie Maker and Photo Gallery

I bought Windows 7 Ultimate on my old Dell Optiplex that up and died after 9 years of use. I bought a new Dell Optiplex 3040 that came with Windows 7 Profession with free upgrade to Windows 10 Professional. I have stayed on Windows 7, have Windows 10 Home on a laptop, don't much care for 10, mainly because it does too much for me. Guess I may have to update around 2020?

Anyway, I miss my Movie Maker and Photo Galley. I still have my Windows 7 Ultimate DVD, is there a way to just load movie maker and photo gallery from my Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate DVD?

I have looked for downloads on Microsoft, they seem to have removed all that software.

If its anything like Movie Maker in Vista then you might be able to get it work.

To use Vista's Movie Maker in W10 (so I'm assuming Seven is similar) it was simply a case of copying the Movie Maker folder from the program files and pasting it somewhere convenient in W10. I pasted to a folder in Documents simply so that any W10 updates wouldn't complain in future (as has happened with the old Vista/W7 games).

In the Movie Maker folder is a shortcut ready to use and pin to the start menu. The program is self contained and runs 'as is' from the folder.

    Hi,
As long as you want English and don't mind getting it from my Onedrive you can grab wlsetup-web.zip from here

    Maybe not
Major geeks has it but version 14 not 2012's version 16
Download Windows Live Essentials - MajorGeeks

Copying the folder didn't work, the files were there, but slightly different like moviemaker.exe, program would error on execution.

Was able to get from majorgeek and it works, but can't modify old projects and get error that they are different versions. However, that is okay, don't want to modify old projects, just want to be able to make new ones.

    Thanks for suggestions and help.

I unchecked everything but photo gallery and moviemaker and that is all that loaded. I don't know how to tell what version, usually there is an "about" under help. I know there is another way, but I forget.

On old computer I find wlsetup.exe (date 11/28/2013) that looks to tries and load windows essential 2011, can't do it as that old computer is not connected to internet, just sets there spinning saying preparing to load windows essentials 2011. Guess that is what I was running?? The movies I made I still have and they are from 2011.

Found moviemaker version 14.0.8117.0416, copyright 2009 that I just loaded.

Pleased to hear you got something workable in the end. A pity MS discontinued Live Essentials in the way they did.

Yes it is and Google did the same with Picasa. They want us to manage our data on their servers and not our own computers, which for me is not going to happen.
