Windows 7: Portable Youtube Player

Portable Youtube Player

I'm looking for a good portable youtube player.
That I can run on Windows 7 (and 10) and don't have to be installed.

Important is that:
- I can add new items to a playlist via drag and drop form browser
- it can save playlists
- is portable
- it can play the videos without the bling bling around the video content
- it is possible to minimize to tray
- could be controlled via hotkeys

Nice - but found some problems with it:

Some of the Videos are not played "not available" - but opening the URL directly plays the video.
And if I full-screen the player on my second screen the rendered Youtube Video is displayed on the main screen without the players chrome.

That could possibly be a codec issue!

Not a codec issue but a browser issue. I was delighted when I stumbled upon this thread as I too have been looking for a Standalone Youtube app. It turns out that TOMYO actually uses your web browser to play videos (it defaults to IE) as I discovered when I tried running it on Windows XP (I realize this is a forum for Windows 7 which I also have but wanted to clarify that this isn't an actual app but a GUI that is dependant on your web browser).

The closest I was able to find was Youtube Media Player Pro (freeware)

This one doesn't care what browser you are running but it does use Windows Media Player to play videos so you may run into codec issues.

About the closest thing I have found for a Windows Youtube app is SMPlayer with the SMTube plugin. SMPlayer has most codecs built-in similar to VLC so it can play practically any videos. The only problem is the SMTube browser can't access all Youtube videos for some reason.

All the other hits on Google for standalone Youtube app were out-dated/dead links or required Adobe Flash.

Looks like we're stuck with our browsers for Youtube for the most reliable way to view.

Oh and Happy New Year!

If you want download YouTube video, you can use Altysoft Video converter.
It is so easy to download YouTube videos from YouTube website, just specify the URL for the video you want to download. then you can select different output format that you want to convert. Also you can see it here.
