Software Converter for MPEG-2 TS Video files

I have about 25 Video clips that I want to save to a DVD Disk, but the files, as near as I can tell, are saved to an old standard that is very seldom used. The files are saved as "MPEG-2 TS Video"!
I've tried several converters that I have available, but none work with a Phillips DVD player as advertised.
For example, I have converted one batch on my PC to MP4, and with my Toshiba DVD Player, I can view the files. But using a Phillips DVD player, which is rather old, these files are not viewable.

And I have another batch that is listed as "Movie Clip (.mpg)", which I think may be MPG2, that I can't view
with either my Toshiba or Phillips DVD players.
Does anybody have any Ideas on what it is that I have over looked, and what I need to do to get around this small problem?

I don't think it's the DVD drive that can or can not play the videos, it's the software you use. I would convert the MPEG 2 files to MP4 and then use a DVD authoring software to convert and burn to the appropriate DVD method so that the DVD can play in any DVD player.
