Need help decoding x265 video

Does anyone have a short list of the oldest Intel tech I should have for watching my x265 videos?

Looking to build a small unit around Windows 7 and not sure what mobo/chip to get on a budget

My ONLY purpose is internet and watching video streamed to TV via HDMI

If I understand you correctly, then VLC [FREE] might be what you are after.
It plays pretty much anything you throw at it video or audio wise. I have used it for years.

You can get it from here => VLC Official Site.

I hope this helps!

That is what I use but my hardware just cannot keep up with x265 tech I guess. Not sure if CPU or GPU is the issue with watching x265 video files

That's very strange because I have got a ten year old laptop that I use once in a while that has VLC on it and plays x264 and x265 audio. At the end of the day they are only formats!

I hope this helps!

Hm, it shouldn't be a problem, maybe the processor won't have great decoding level for more modern format but the Intel HD starting from the 4000 series was pretty decent for integrated graphics IMO so it shouldn't be too terrible logically speaking...

Just saw my laptop has an old as dirt Intel Express G45 chipset

I am thinking of getting an HP desktop that has an Intel G4560T chip and Intel HD 610 graphics, that should be more than enough for my video needs, I would think.

That rig is only $155 and comes with a monitor to boot!!!
