    Windows Photo Viewer Doesn't Open

    Here's my config

    Fx 6100
    Corsair 8 GB
    ATI Radeon HD 5450 GPU
    Windows 7 Pro x64

I tried updating the driver of my GPU but the latest driver was giving me a boot loop, so I rolled back to the old one.

Since then, I am unable to open Windows Photo Viewer. I click on a photo and nothing shows up, the photo viewer doesn't even open.

I remember getting some COM Surrogate error window

Here's what shows up in the event logs

    Code:
Faulting application name: DllHost.exe, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bca54
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.24335, time stamp: 0x5c268115
    Exception code: 0xc0000374
    Fault offset: 0x00000000000bf302
    Faulting process id: 0x1c08
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d4a7fe0cc98e0a
    Faulting application path: C:\Windows\system32\DllHost.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
    Report Id: 4a954187-13f1-11e9-88ae-9c5c8e78217a
    Please advise. Thanks

Which driver did you try to update to and which one are you using now? Your card is only supported by the Beta crimson 16.2.1 or earlier (which would be a Radeon driver).

I tried upgrading to Catalyst Suite v15.7.1 which led to bootloop

Didn't try installing the Crimson drivers

What version of .NET framework have you installed on the computer?

Can you use Open With on the Right-Mouse click, and select Photo Viewer that way?

Did you uninstall the Crimson driver before installing 15.7.1?
