MP3 Music Files Locked Up Tight ???

In order to re-partition the primary HDD, I have been moving everything that isn't the O/S and Programs from one machine to temporary storage on an external HDD.
Everything has went off without a hitch until I tried to move a folder that contained a couple hundred or more MP3 bought-and-paid-for music files.
This represents maybe 10% of the music files that I have already moved without a single problem.
I first set up Synchredible to copy the entire collection, which it did except for this one entire folder.
I tried to manually drag-drop a file from that folder and got informed that I needed administrator permission to continue; I am the administrator; I have full access and permissions, as well as every other user on all of our machines.
I double-checked permissions and such and all was as it should be; there is no reason that I can figure why this should not work.
I tried to play a song and got refused again, telling me that I did not have permission.
I tried a different music player with the same results.
I have checked and rechecked shares permissions and there is no reason why I should not be able to do whatever with these files.
All the other Music folders are completely accessible.

I have all of this stored and backed up a dozen different ways and the music is playable on all these other machines/drives.

The machine in question used to be the only machine and it was the first landing place for all of this music.
I have always before been able to copy it to other machines/drives and load it on MP3 players and such.

For whatever reason, now it won't let me do anything with it.

As, like I have said, I have this stored in many places; thus, I am not so concerned that I cannot access these files.

What does worry me though is the mysterious why and what has happened; if this were my only copies, they would be lost.

Also, although I have not yet tried deleting the folder, I am certain that deleting is not going to be allowed either; that is going to throw a big snag in my plan.

    I NEVER encrypt anything.
These files were 100% accessible the last time I messed with them.
Nobody gets past the door alive, unless I let them.

Pray tell, what has happened to lock this folder and how do I regain access ?

Thanks for reading and all help is appreciated.

Just because your admin doesnt give you rights on every file/folder some are locked by system to stop windows being hacked. What is the folder as if its in a users profie it will be owned by that user. When you checked permissions do you check to see if it inherits access from a folder above? Try using out take ownership which should do it Take Ownership Shortcut

    Thanks; I will try that.
One habit I acquired some time ago that usually avoids most pitfalls is that, on the machines that still have "libraries", I never store anything in any of the "My---" folders.
I always make sure everything is in the Public folders; it just saves a lot of headaches.

Thanks! That did the trick !
I selected the parent folder and did the Take Ownership thing and immediately was able to fully control everything but fora single solitary file.
I then right-clicked that file, took ownership, and was able to manipulate it as well.

Now that I finally got those files copied to the other disc, it will not let me delete the parent folder, saying that the folder cannot be found and is in a different location.
I just did restart the machine and it is going through the process of restarting as I type this.
I will see if I can delete the folder after the restart.

    >>> On EDIT: >>> After a restart, I still cannot delete that silly folder.
I was able to delete all contents of the folder, but I cannot delete the folder; it tells me that the folder is not in that location --- I don't know where else it could be --- I am looking right at it.
I right-clicked and chose Show Location and it opens right to the exact place where I am trying to delete it from.

I got everything relocated or deleted except for that one silly folder that was right there, but not there.
I used EaseUS Partition Master to shrink the O/S partition and Windows Computer Management to format, allocate, and rename the new partition.
EaseUS Partition Master did a couple restarts during the process.
That silly un-deletable folder was still there.
I had to turn off UAC and restart so I could associate the Public library folders with their mates in the new partition/drive.
Once that was accomplished, I turned UAC back on and restart again.
The un-deletable folder showed up in my new folder on the new partition.
I selected and right-clicked it and "Delete"; it went away easily that time and changed the names of both folders to Public Music in the process.
When I hi-lited each of the folders and F2 to rename, instead of displaying Public Music in the text changing line, it showed the new name that I had previously chosen = weird.
I kinda feel like I haven't seen the last of that silly folder.
