Gif's in sequence with win7
I have a cheap 7 64 home premium. and a nice 7 32 bit pro. (main machine) I would like to play animated gifs in sequence.
With xp I could set up several to play in slide show (automaticaly or manualy advancing to next one) A nice "blank" black backgound and the animated gif. I liked making little movies with a folder of sequenced gifs. With 7 I can get it to play on wmp but it doesn't do a very good job and IE is nothing I want to even open anymore for too many reasons to get into. I have to close WMP and re open for every gif. Is there any programs out there or something I can do to get these to play? There are many programs but I see navigation stuff on the sides and stuff. I want "absolutely nothing" besides the gif on the screen. Just like XP had. And my mouse pointer stayed hidden as long as I didn't move it. Just Left clicked when I wanted it to advance durring manual mode. Please help, otherwize I am going to have to try and find an old xp that will not last forever. Thanks Jo |

irfanview?
I have seen youtube vids on this program, but all they talk about is the photo editing properties. (which I would not use since I have extensive programs for that) I have never seen in any video of a full screen animated gif being played with nothing else on the screen. Can you just click and get the next one in the folder too?. I just want to play gifs "Exactly" like XP. "Exactly the same" If someone would make a program that just was like the XP photo viewer you could make a mint. No extensive editing or other "complicated" stuff. JO

I just tried it. Irfanview does not automatically play a slideshow of gifs in fullscreen. But if you have a folder with only gifs within it, you can just open one of those files and maximize your window and it will show the gif in full screen however there will still be a titlebar. Then you click the arrow near the upper left of the screen and it will go to the next gif file, and so on. But you have to click the arrow, it will not happen automatically. Pressing the right arrow switches to the next image in your folder, so if you have png and jpg files too you will see them, which is why I suggested to only have gif files in the folder. One setting you will need to set up in irfanview is options > properties > fullscreen/slideshow > Fit to screen - all images. Otherwise the gif will just show in their normal size.

Well the title bar is a killer. Won't be getting that program. I used to just run a video line out to my stand alone dvr/dvd recorder and I could make little movies with strings of gifs, or another example, A christmas card/screen saver thing that I made and ran onto dvd for my older (and yonger) relatives that do not use computers. They just pop the dvd into a player and wallaaaa. I ended up getting a cheap used XP
computer as an extra for doing this... I just wish someone had something that played them like XP. We keep getting less and less features with every new "upgrade" (downgrade realy) Of all electronics. Blu ray was a huge dissapointment.. : ![]() |

Ok, no ranting this time. I did find something called windows 7 gif viewer. Don't know much about it. I am leary of downloading any program unless I am confident about it. Anyway, here is a link to a site that talks about it. Any info? https://sourceforge.net/projects/gifviewer/ Will try to find out more. JO

A shutdown program sequence I have a program that needs to be shut down before I shut down my comp. I have a tweak that forces shut downs but I would prefer to have an automatic shut down sequence so I can have that particular program shut down before the comp shuts down. Is it possible to create a shutdown sequence? |
