    I had the same problem & I did a "sfc /scannow" under c:\
and a wmp restart under services, now all are good, for how long nobody knows.

A few days ago I uninstalled McAfee and all hell broke loose. A lot of minor problems which I fixed, but the one to take it all was Windows Media Player. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted the PC, several times, with no soution in sight.
When I click on a music file, WMP gives me the "server execution failed" message. I restarted the service through the services dialog and nothing changed.
The only way I can use WMP is by running it as an administrator. Once it is opened then I can play the files.

I'd hate to think that I should do a system restore to an earlier date, prior to the uninstallation of the McAfee software because you just never know what sysrestore brings.

    This is not good.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

Scanned but no solution. I suppose I'll have to continue using alternate players or go through the riggamarole of right clicking run as administrator.

    Thank you all.
