Scanned but no solution. I suppose I'll have to continue using alternate players or go through the riggamarole of right clicking run as administrator.

    Thank you all.

    1. Click Start, click Accessories, the right click on Command Prompt and choose "run as administrator", then type regsvr32 jscript.dll, and then hit enter.
    2. Now type exit and hit enter. Now try media player and it should work.

For everyone who has not figured it out yet: Here is an answer from:

"server execution failed" error on EVERY video & music - Microsoft Answers

My problem is that there is likely a newer 32bit version installed ever an older 64bit version (or something like that). I am running Win x64 and when I started the player under the x64 folder it started right up. The "Program Files (x86)" folder version of the program will not run.

I need to find out how to get rid of the 32bit version and make all pointers open the 64 bit media player.

Hi Jacee, I guess Im a little late to the Windows 7 media player server execution failure, but I had that darned problem just the same. I say had because after multiple posts and multiple attempts I found your quick and correct solution to my problem. Just so you know how much I appreciate it , I registered here just so I can say thank you , so " Thank you" restarting the services did the trick. Happy Holidays !

See if this works for you ... go into services, scroll down to Windows Media Player Network Sharing, click 'restart'.

    Then, restart your computer.
I'm unable to find "Windows Media Player Network Sharing". In search all programs and files I can type in and find services, but from there I can't find Windows Media Player Network Sharing.
