    Wordpad Problem

My photos (.jpeg) are opening in Wordpad as code instead of a picture when I click on them with Wordpad as the default program.
Once inside Wordpad, I can click on the Picture icon in the insert group, point to the same .jpeg, and get a picture.
Text appears normal, but pictures are presented as (compressed??) code.
    Any Ideas?
    Joey.

This is expected and the way it should work. Wordpad is not capable of opening picture files of any sort, as it's a word processor. Specifing a file to open with it means interpreting as a document, which an image cannot, hence you get it's contents displayed as text, as "good" as possible as it's fundamentally random binary data.

Inserting a picture into a document cannot be done with "open with", nor with any other command line parameters as long as I know.

You are right, with the exception that once inside Wordpad a picture can be opened but not as a default from without.
    Thanks.

Try LibreOffice. It's free and more robust and capable. You should be able to right click the image, copy, and paste directly into the Doc in LibreOffice. There are many tools and things so an online help guide and forum is available.
