Has anyone had large batches of pictures, or media files go missing?

For over 10 years I have been battling with files missing. I have noticed that as the cloud storage becomes more popular more of my files go away. I must admit here that I was the cause of some big chunks of my files missing. It took quite a while for me to realize that when I would use a cleaning app, like CCleaner and allow it to clean the thumbs WOW! that would delete the edits I just spent days prepping for online. But on the other hand many of my just edited files are being moved to the cloud without me even having an account. I would never do that. I have sent nasty grams to google and microsoft for their over zealous unethical stealing of files just so we have to sign up for the cloud. I had boxes of pictures and slides from my Navy travels, thousands of them. I spent 700.00 on the best Epson scanner they made just to scan all my pictures and slides. I was from Paradise CA and lost everything that would not fit in my Honda Accord. As time went by some of my pictures I did not have after the fire started popping up on my desktop. One of them was a picture of my 3 year old son sitting on my lap in my dune buggy. I saw that picture and scoured all my drives looking for it and did not find it. I wrote to google and the next day that picture was on my desktop wall paper on my 27" Imac. My son died from meningitis when he was 23. I had no nice words for google! I have lost over 200 gigs of family and friends pictures from growing up. And they are still being taken. Here is me and my son in the dune buggy. PICT0600.JPG (1.81 MB)
