How to copy an audio CD to Windows as MP3

I'm trying to copy and convert an audio CD to a Windows disk MP3 file. The Rip CD button is greyed out. Would someone kindly tell me what I need to get it to work?

Sorry - I thought I wrote, but I see that I left out, that its from Windows Media Player. And in case anyone is concerned, I'm just trying to back up a few of my CDs onto my disk drive, not copying someone else's CDs.

Open Windows Media Player and make sure the disc shows up in the left-hand panel. Click on it and check on the songs you want to copy to your computer. Then, select Rip settings, scroll down to Format and make sure MP3 is checked. Then, select Rip CD.

    Hope this helps!
