    FLAC Audio Files

I am using MPC-HC x64 to listen to FLAC music files. The quality of flac is superior. The problem is the maker of the program has ceased to exist. I looked through posts in what seemed to be related back for years. I thought somebody here might listen to FLAC music files on their Windows 7 machine.

I'm going to go back to internet and see if I can find a codex for Windows Media Player... If you know anything about this, let me know.

    Thanks,

    Phredtx

ps: I tried to attach a sample flac file; but it isn't supported.

You could put it in a zip file. Zip files can be attached.

I tried using K-Lite Codec Pack. It didn't do what I expected. I went back to a restore point that was before I tried adding codecs to Windows Media Player. I just went back to MPC-HC x64: I don't just leave well enough alone.

    Take your pick.

VLC: Download official VLC media player for Windows - VideoLAN (Plays damn near any format you want. May not be for everyone).

jetAudio Basic: jetAudio Basic - multimedia player

MediaMonkey: MediaMonkey - manage your music (Can't remember if FLAC is suported out of the box. I image it would be).

    I use all three. LOL

And you're right, FLAC is far more superior. It's because it's a "lossless" format and not a "lossy" format.

    ProTip:

    Audials One and Sidify.

(Spotify is not lossless, Amazon Music, Deezer, KKBox, Moov, Qobuz, Tidal are. Source: List of streaming media services - Wikipedia

    Dear Fellow Forumists,

My SX2803 ended up having nervous break down, and now seems to have dementia precox. I am using another computer to seek a cure less radical than resting it to original factory setting (the equivalent of electroshock therapy or a lobotomy). It's my own fault; my judgement is always overridden by curiosity.

I'll get it fixed. I've handled worse cases than this. A word of caution: be circumspect about anything I suggest.

I enjoy this site VERY much.

    Best Regards,

    Fred Brawner (aka Phredtx)

A final note to end this thread. I ended up restoring the machine to original factory settings. It took a while to get my programs re-installed. I had about given up on installing service pack 1. I finally found the Microsoft Program Catalogue.
    Thanks everyone.
    Goodnight,
    Fred
