both, it worked for watching the first avi, but when i tried to listen to an mp3 it didn't work, i then put in an original cd and it still doesn't work, both all play with VLC player.

yes, i'm getting a bit pissed off with it, TBH, i perfer WMP to all the other players.
think i'll get in touch with MS support about this

UPDATE
reinstalled windows 7, with 32bit this time, all updates, and WMP is working great
