    Help with "Open With..." Menu


    I'd like to ask something since I couldn't find it anywhere on the Internet, and no, removing the registry entry doesn't work since it's not located there.

    I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on my Laptop, and after installing my programs and such, I detected an invalid entry in the "Open With..." menu for .GIF files.

    Here's a screenshot:

    I just can't delete it, I tried everything I could, even some tools, but it's just not showing up in the list. I searched the register for "Photo Gallery Viewer" and deleted the ones I found but it's still there, (Yes, I backed up everything)

    I seriously hope I'll get an answer here. Thanks in advance!

    Hello Carmine, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    Downloading and merging the GIF download in the tutorial below will restore the default GIF associations to remove this.

    Default File Type Associations - Restore

safe to assume its impossible to remove the "open" and the "merge" entries from the context menu? I figure if i want to open or merge them i would simply double click. Clutter and redundency in this vein dont suit me :P
Is it possible to add icon to the entry Open File/Folder Location? I created expendable string value and name it Icon and then in value i inserted the path to the .ico file, but no icon is showing up.
I use Office XP (esp Word 2002, .doc) on my Win7 machine. I use the Office 2007 Compatability Pack to be compatible with Word 2007/2010's .docx. A little clumsy, but it works...I don't want to change to Open Office, et al. I set the default font in my Word 2002 as Times New Roman-12pt. ...
Using Word 2007, I am unable to pin the "New" and "Open" Word Document to the Start Menu. I was able to do this in XP and Vista. I go to "All Programs" and can load Word but cannot find the options new/open. In Word I go to "Word Options" and it is not listed there either. Thanks.
