windows photo viewer will not allow moving a pic

I am still looking for a solution to a maddening problem with windows 7 photo viewer and that is I cannot manually move a picture within a folder from one place on the screen to another. windows picture and fax viewer allowed me to do it by left clicking ( hold ) on a pic drag to where I wanted it in the folder according to how I wanted the folder to be arranged and that would be its new location. if say the upper left corner of the page in a folder was most important row by row left to right downward and lower right bottom was least important.

has anyone else noticed this and is there a way to reset photo viewer to do what I describe?

Could it be a permission problem with your photo files? Can you move them around in explorer? If so, it's not permissions.

But sorry that I can't really help you more with Windows Photo Viewer as I use the much better (imo, of course) Faststone Image Viewer (free) as my default photo viewer. I highly recommend checking it out, even if you get WPV working as you want.

i guess thats the point, when I see the pics at the starting point in their folders before I even open them they are in - windows explorer - and no I cannot move them around in explorer. so how do I change the permissions? I'm already - owner / administrator - .

I have a conclusive answer : microsoft has removed the disable auto-arrange feature for files and folders in windows 7, they say it speeds up search hard drive capacity.
