That sounds like good news. Happy computing.

I've been able to prevent the Quicktime plugin from taking over the displaying of .tiff images in IE and Firefox by manually deleting all of the Quicktime .dll files from the browser plugin directories. Under Program files, go to Internet Explorer\plugins (or Mozilla Firefox\plugins) and search for npqtplugin.dll (and its cousins #2 through 7 on my system). Delete all of these (you might want to sort the files by date to make sure you get the right ones and all of them).
Doing this allows you to keep Apple Quicktime installed, but prevents it from hijacking your browser.
I think the same should work for .m4a files.
@johnsmith11 - Do you remember if you also deleted the file, "QuickTimePlugin.class"? I'm going to try what you suggested (deleting the 7 QT plugin DLL's) and wasn't sure what that additional file is for. Assuming it should also be zapped, but wanted to ask what you (or others) thought.
Thanks!
Yes, I also deleted the QuickTimePlugin.class file (since it had the exact same date as the others).
I think it is also possible to move these files into a newly created subdirectory (e.g. Disabled), just in case you ever want to re-enable the QuickTime plugin without having to reinstall it.
Perfect! Thanks for the quick reply. We'll save the files as you suggested in case they ever need to come back!
Happy New Year!
