New version of Winamp for W7 Rips SUPER FAST

    Hi all
just to say the new version of Winamp is W7 compliant and rips REALLY FAST

I'm ripping CD's to FLAC and now getting rip speeds of up to nearly 40X -- Pic enclosed.

I compared a couple of tracks with EAC just to check for accuracy -- they are fine.

If you do a lot of CD ripping then worth an upgrade if you are a WINAMP user -- I use it mainly because it tags automatically from Gracenote which for a lot of Classical Music seems better than Freedb which is what EAC uses.

Version 5.572 -- also as H264 video decoding for those interested.

    Cheers

    Hi all
My post was basically for those that are using Winamp already and suggesting they download the new version as it significantly improves the rip speed.

Of course things like EAC etc are still good.

There are other decent rippers and players but actually I've found Winamp sufficient for my purposes -- just to RIP CD's into FLAC at the highest possible speed ACCURATELY with decent tags from the Gracenote DB.

I've found while other rippers OK they invariably use FREEDB or BRAINZ for the music lookup -- this might be fine for your music - but if you have a large Classical collection then these sources are not as good as the Gracenote DB.

I play the music via audio streaming - such as using the squeezebox system on a server so I am not considering Winamp (or other equivalent software) as a "Library organiser" and player -- simply as a FAST ripper and tagger.

    Cheers

    Winamp / Win7

Thanks for this thread. I had tried the previous version with Win 7 but it bombed on me. This one seems to be great so far
