    Windows 7 picture problem

My wife has new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. I transferred all the pictures from her old laptop via Windows easy transfer to the new one. No problem with that. The problem is that she is unable to email short videos and pictures. I first noticed this when she would simply foward an email she had received to me that had pics, but all I could see was the big empty box with the little red arrow where a picture was suppose to be. She is using Windows Live Mail, and no special software for her pics. Please help us. Her pictures are her best friend.

I feel it's just a matter of settings, but I can not figure it out.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Hi Bill like the pic attached? That is because on of the email clients is stripping the pictures out. More than likely her's. It is a setinng in windows live mail, and since I dont have it Im going to have to research it.

Yes. that is what I get when she emails me pictures forwarded.

When she tries to send video's or pics from her pictures, they will not go. She gets a warning that the email had to break up the videos in smaller parts, and sent me to a place to set that. The problem is that the maximum setting (16,000 KB) still does not work.

Thanks for your help. Like I said, I don't know where to start.

    Hi billberry12

In WLM go to tools/ options/ send/ html setting, make sure there's a check in the box to send pic's with emails Ok, Ok and your should be fine.

I checked these settings, and sent s short video. It says it is sending it in 5 parts. What is this part stuff? Never heard of it. It says sending part one of five. But..after a minute or so, it gave me this messaage.

Subject 'pics goula girls wiing 005.AVI [1/5]'
    Server Error: 552
Server Response: 552 5.2.3 DATA size exceeds maximum permitted
    Server: 'smtp.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC6D
    Protocol: SMTP
    Port: 25
    Secure(SSL): No

It never did this with XP and Outlook before.

Then I successfully sent a single picture and for the first time, I could open it on the receiving end. So..we are making progress here. Just need to figure out the video thing.

    Thanks,
    Bill

The video could be a limitation of your isp, since this is web based mail not really sure. I get to recieve 5mb pps files but even that's not a video. The error your showing is your isp server error, i have Yahoo and my Protocol: SMTP is Port 465/w Secure (SSL) yes, you should check the box first then add the port # click apply and make sure the port held the #

Not sure where I change the port #. I tried to sedn 8 pics, and it would not, then I tried 4, and it sent them.

What about the options in WLM in send/HTML settings , should the box , Allow 8 bit characters in headings be checked, and also, where it says encode text, should it be "quoted printable", "none", or "Base 64", or does any of this matter?
    Thanks,

Ok in WLM go to Tools /accounts /highlite the default account /click properties /tab advanced / there you will see the ports, put in the proper #'s, put a check in secure SSL yes for incoming and outgoing, makeing sure they hold the #'s and your done.
