Media Player's Toolbar & Mini Player

How do I add the Media Player Toolbar to appear as an option in the Taskbar list of Toolbars.
I'm trying to enable the Media Player's Mini Player so it shows in the Taskbar when I minimise Media Player.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Harrismith,

Check out this article, it explains how to get the WMP12 Taskbar player back in Windows 7. Let me know how that works for ya.

    Thanks for your help.
    The link you offered had a problem and didn't work, but I found this;
    Welcome to Microsoft Answers!
"In windows 7, you cannot add the Media Player toolbar to the taskbar.
You can control the Player when it's minimized. You can play or pause the current item, advance to the next item, and go back to the previous item using the controls in the thumbnail preview. The thumbnail preview appears when you point to the Windows Media Player icon on the taskbar."
So it looks like that yet again the developers have tinkered with the new version and from comments on various Forums, it appears that 'we' want the 'toolbar/mini player' back!
    Cheers once again.

    Hi Harrismith,

What didn't work in the link I sent you? Did you try the solution recommended in the article? Either way, matt_0978's link has the same solution so if it was a domain issue with the first article then I'd just recommend using his.

I understand now - the solution is to downgrade to v11.
    Thanks for your help.

Also your link is working just fine - must have been my system!

Sure thing, I'm glad you were able to get it figured out. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help! I will flag this thread to be marked as 'Solved'. Enjoy using WMP, whichever version you decide on

    solved my ass!

solved my ass! thats some serious Bull$#!^ i am very dissapointed with windows, having to downgrade to a lesser version just to get a preferred tool back is not a solution! why dont you guys just put the damned thing back into wmp12? offer it as a freaking upgrade through your windows update service! or better yet Give me the damned program and let me put it together for you, since you guys are too lazy to even try and do it right the first time around!

SCREW YOU GUYS! I'M GOING TO LINUX!

    Hi fauxfire26,

The thread was marked Solved because Harrismith (the Thread Starter) reported that the solution matt_0978 and I provided worked for them. I happen to agree with you that this feature should have been carried over to WMP12, but that is not the topic of this thread. If you'd like to discuss that issue, you are welcome to start your own thread about it.

    Cheers,
