    Media Player

I have Windows 7 Pro x64, the media player that comes with it crashes constantly. Can a older version be installed?

You have an Audigy 2 sound card, why not use Creative's MediaSource Player?

I prefer Media Monkey though I use WinAmp when doing just single songs.

All good suggestions, but in my experience, Windows Media Player crashes are mostly attributable to bad codecs. And I've been using Windows 7 since the BETA Build 7000, and I think maybe Windows Media Player has crashed on me maybe twice.

Freogg, what codec pack are you using? The codecs provided by Shark007 are the most reliable you'll ever get for windows XP, Vista or Windows 7...

What exactly is the cause of WMP crashes?

    Audio, Video, both?

If Video, as Dzomlija already stated, something like Sharks Codecs should resolve the issue.

I like WMP the best and as far as codecs I have the other popular codec pack, I am at work so I can't list it now. Video will work most of the time but audio will crash a second into the song. I am using onboard audio. Tonight I will uninstall the codecs and try Shark007.
