I hear ya about the PS3! My homie has one, and it does everything, well almost... Anyway, it was able to stream media off our desktop/server when the XBOX 360 required Microsoft to help set it up to do that. Also, he recently found out that you can replace the HD yourself with a bigger one pretty easily. Can you please PM me with the details on your PS3 social club, so I can pass them along to him?

Also, thanks for the ! I have never seen that before and it made me LOL. I’m having kind of a ruff nite,, so that was nice!!

Oh yeah, and my files are either unknowns too! Or they were "burned" to CD back when WMP did not put the tags on the non-MP3 discs (the ones playable anywhere). [This was 8 years ago...and I'm not sure that the program has even gotten any better...] A week or so ago, I was trying to listen to a video file (on my computer), and slow it down so I could take notes, but the pitch went down with it. 2 days ago, my homie was fast forwarding thru a DIVX movie on his PS3 and I could still hear the audio in the right pitch. I do no understand why a "game console" is so much more powerful than a computer...

The PS3 has a pretty intense engine in it and it also is pretty much dedicated to providing great audio and sound and gaming. I;m not knowledgeable enough about the inner-workings of either PC or PS3 to really say "this is why".

But they are an intense machine.

As far as the PS3 Social Club, that is something I started on this site for members that also enjoy using the PS3. But he is more than welcome to join and we can chat about whatever. I am the only member right now as I JUST started it a few hours ago.

I can also point you to another forum if you wish, I am a member over there and it deals with PS3 Media Server.

I go by the same name over there, so your friend could PM me on that forum if he likes. No problem either way.

Let me know what you find and what media player you decide on, I am kind of curious about that now.

Anyways, good luck with your Media player search and feel free to PM me about whatever.

Foobar2000 can do most of the things you asked, the file operations and tagging are great.

    Thank you, hybridfan!

I will add that to the top of my list of audio filers to check out. I appreciate your input.
