Windows 7: Folders

Windows 7 Pro 64bit

For some strange reason, there are 2 sets of documents, music, videos, and pictures folders. There is the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders on my start menu and my desktop and there are a My Documents, My Music, My Videos, and My Pictures folders under users/kevin. Which creates a problem when using Windows Media Center and trying to upload media from certain Java applications. Is there a way to combine those folders permanently? Like getting rid of the "my" folders and just having the ones I use universal?

Why don't you just delete 1 set?

Well I just tried that and no luck. Now that I look at it, I am using "public folders" because they were on the start menu. These "My" folders are the real folders. However since they are not on the start menu I don't want to use them. Now that I have deleted them I can't even find them. Media Center can't see these "public folders" either.

Consolidate Shortcut Folders/File Folders in Open Dialogue
I was wondering if there's a way to sort file folders and shortcut folders so they are listed together, as in previous OS versions. I find it frustrating that 7 has forced the shortcuts to be split up into their own category rather than their file properties. I prefer to sort my folders by type,...
