My pictures are in my Pictures and Video library

    Hello
On my new build ,the operating system is on the C drive and I have my D drive for storage. Thanks to this forum , I put Documents ,Pictures ,Video and Music on the D drive. ( I couldn't figure it out )
Next I put all my pictures ,music and documents (no video's) into there libraries from an external drive.
All is O.K. except when I opened my video's , (it should be empty )it has a complete copy of my pictures library. I deleted a couple of folders to see what would happen and there also gone from my pictures library.
A few of my pictures folders have video 's from my camera ,so I don't know if that has something to do with the duplication .
I would like to have the video library just for video's (of course )
    Any Idea's ? Thanks ,Tim

You may wish to read up on how libraries work, but the basic idea is that you can add/remove parent locations to a library and all items in that location will be show in that library.

So, if you want your pictures to show up in the pictures library simply add the folders that contain those pictures. Be sure that there are no videos anywhere beneath the parent folders that you select to be included in the library. Do the same with videos.

    In other words:

If you have an external hard drive that looks like this:

    D:\Pictures\...

    D:\Videos\...

Add each location and only each location to the libraries. Do not store videos beneath the master pictures folder and vice versa.

Personally, I just place a link in the favorites list to my parent pictures and video folders. This allows me to access them like libraries as all of my data is already very well organized. In the simplest sense, libraries aid those who have unorganized files.
