    Windows 7, Video capture confusion

I'm having trouble with capturing video thru Firewire from my DV camcorder.

    Here's the problem:

I downloaded and installed Movie Maker. When I plug in my device ... something pops up and allows me to capture from the device. BUT THIS ONLY HAPPENS when I plug in.

What if i wanna capture part of the video, stop the capture and then re-start?

I cannot find a way to do so without unplugging the device and then re-plugging it in.

My version of MovieMaker doesnt even offer the capture option.. i think there is some wizard that does this . How do i get to this wizard? i cant find it anywhere?

Guys, I apologize.. figured it out. In Windows Live Photo Gallery, there is an option 'import from a camera or scanner'. This can import videos from an attached DV camcorder.

If u ask me, it's bizarre! Photo Gallery should be for pictures only and any import feature in that folder should only pertain to importing stills from an attached camera or scanner...NOT video. Perhaps they should have a separate Video Gallery for that.

But that's how the retards do it. Beats the heck out of me why. I think it's got something to do with a feature that lets u extract stills from a video sequence, or i thought i read something about being able to combine several stills into a video sequence?

Either way, it's a bizarre and retarded place for it. Totally counter-intuitive.
