If when you take another picture, does one of those last two pictures show up?

One possibility is that the camera created a second folder - for whatever reason. I suggest you take the card out and read it directly from the card reader. Then browse thru all the folders that are on the card.

The card on which the pictures are recorded - e.g. an SD card. Take that out and stick it into the card slot of the PC. But if the recording goes to an internal memory of the camera, then you have to scout thru that.

Did you change the format your photos are saved as, i.e. were you using .jpg and possibly changed it to native RAW file?

The best way to ensure good health of your media for your camera is to download the photos upon completing your shooting and put them in a folder on the PC, use the eject function in Windows 7 to disconnect the camera (if you use a USB cable) or the media (if you use a media reader). Put the media back in the camera, check the folder on the PC to verify your photos are safe and sound then format your media card for the next session.

What I just wrote is my workflow for my photos.

I just put the cable in the slot on the side of my laptop with the camera. I open the removeable disk G, I click on DCIM then I click on 100OLYMP. Pictures pops up, but not the last ones. I didn't make any changes to anything. This works with windows 98 also and every photo comes up.

Hmmmmm, I would reboot the PC and see if that resolves it, the camera is probably formatting the media using FAT16, while they should pose no issue in Windows 7 I wonder if the reason you can see the photos from before is because they are in system cache.

I'd download them to the 98 PC if you can't see them on the Windows 7 PC and put them on another type of media say a CD-r and see if that works in the Windows 7 machine. Never had any media do this, had them fail to work with different readers but not the PC using a USB cable. Since you used the cable on a 98 PC that eliminated it from being part of the problem as well.
