    soo... problems.

I install the latest Win7GifViewer, and while it works for gifs, and will happily include .jpgs as i press to see the next picture in the folder when I open via a .gif.... I see no way to set it as the default picture viewer for .jpgs as there is only the rundll32 and shimgvw files in the program's folder. This is just because I perfer to open my pictures up in one viewer and not have some pics for this win7gifviewer and some pics for the default win8 photo viewer.

In the actual win7gifviewer itself I also have a few problems. Is there not a way to scroll through the pictures other than pressing the next/previous buttons? Left/Right buttons on my keyboard refresh the current gif, and tapping/sliding my finger left or right increases the zoom rather than moves to the next picture. In addition when in SlideShow mode there are no options on the right-click menu to play/pause the slide show, or exit slideshow mode. I have to alt+f4 out of slideshow mode in order to exit.

I have a beta version that supports multiple file types here
    https://github.com/Corgano/Windows7G...ive/master.zip
    and source here
    https://github.com/Corgano/Windows7GifViewer

All you need to run it is Windows7GifViewer.exe, the rest is the source files.
This is STILL BETA and MAY NOT WORK, but works on my system
I don't have a no-UAC version, probabyl never will - I can't imagine it working without UAC very well anyways
Mind that, this should still work for admins and if you have UAC turned off.

This is all very confusing to a n00b. Jarmezrocks reply in post #96 tells me it's all done & ready to go but then other posts between him & corgano make it sound like there's still some quirks. I'm pretty well lost when it comes to getting myself out of a jam so am of the mind right now that it would be safer for me to bypass for now.

Thanks for the prog. Pity it doesn't work on limited accounts, I mean it doesn't get installed for all users.

I no longer use it for that reason as I use a limited a/c for most of the time.

This is 99% perfect for my needs:

    1 - Animates gifs.
2 - When in slideshow mode if I press the delete key, the file is instantly deleted - in Win7/8 "Windows Photo Viewer" it will exit slideshow mode and I would have to press the delete key again, which is infuriating.

That 1% that I need fixing?

1 - It needs a icon associated with the program/files which are associated with it. At the moment these are just a blank white square.

2 - If I have a regular picture or animated .gif which has small dimensions, in Win7/8 "Windows Photo Viewer" it will essentially make this fullscreen in slideshow mode. This program does not (yet) do this, and it will just show the regular dimensions of the picture with a whole load of black space around it.

Is it possible to impliment these two fixes?

Any updates regarding the two suggestions I gave in the last message?

Does the new "XP"-Picture viewer for Win7 allow me to use the keyboard arrows to advance from one jpg to the next? Or am I forced to use the mouse to click forward to the next picture?

Microsoft displays an increasing animosity toward keyboard users. In the beginning it used to be all keyboard, then came the option of using a mouse to click, and now we are entering the phase where more and more functions CANNOT be executed unless one uses a mouse.
Condemned to obligatory mouse use by Microsoft?! How is that "progress" -- "upgrade" -- "improvement"?

Do we all have to dumb down to the smallest common denominator of mouse-clicking home users, or does Microsoft keep its power users in mind, who use the keyboard for much faster action? (Sorry, just a rant I had to get off my chest.)

Hi. I am a new user that recently came across this thread. I downloaded the Windows 7 GIF viewer and it works perfectly. The only issue I am having is trying to save the GIF in this program. Help?

    -Thanks

@ all those that have downloaded & like it: please tell me from which post you found the proper link. I have been back & forth through many pages here & it looks like 3 different people have developed the program.
