Ping

Hi guys, i tried to ping a website so i could see whether it was up or not, and it gave me an error saying
Code:
'ping' isnt recognized as an internal or external command or batch file
Can somebody tell me why it does this, and how i can fix it? And it if helps, i have Windows 7 Home Premium build 7600 x64 OEM (HP)

try typing cmd in the search then ping in the command prompt window. works here on win7 x64

EDIT: i have ultimate i wonder if thats the difference?

I have Home Premium, and that is correct way. Try it from an elevated command prompt perhaps? A Guy

Have you tried it from where ping.exe is?

In your command prompt, type cd C:\Windows\system32 to navigate to the system32 folder, then try pinging there.

If that works then it could be your PATH environment variable doesn't include the path to system32.

Right click on Computer>Properties>Advanced System Settings>Environment Variables.

In the System variables section, find the "Path" variable, click "Edit", and add

%SystemRoot%\system32

Different paths are split up with semicolons, so if you add it to the end, remember to add a ; before it.
