    Remote assistance

    Hi all,

I want to remote assistant into my mother computer which is freezing. The debate is should she upgrade to Seven (i can get a student copy for her) or buy a new computer. I just want to look at the event viewer and run the virus scan properly.

I am a little unsure how to do it? Both computers are attached to routers.

Should i use windows remote assist or another program. I would like the process to be easy.

    Thanks in advance

I finally gave up on Remote Assistance and Desktop which are completely unreliable.

By contrast, free Team Viewer can be installed on remote computer in 30 seconds with default settings, ID and password emailed, then instantly connected. It never fails, never wavers. I have reinstalled OS's all over the world using it.

To maintain connection during restarts, click on the remote's options to "Start Teamviewer with Windows," give it a password you remember and you can keep reconnecting until you uncheck that option. Otherwise they need to keep it open on their desktop while you work.

The link is in my signature.

No doubt, I asked the same question not long ago. I tried a bunch of different ones out. TeamViewer is by far the best out there no questions asked. LogMeIn is another one people will recommend, but I tried that and it did connect, but the screen clarity was terrible. TeamViewer is easy to connect, install, setup, and I am currently 400 miles away and it works great without a problem. There is a lot of options to chose from; you can record your sessions, do file transfers, and even log in and off it. You can also reboot and reboot in to safe mode if needed. Excellent program!!! Let me know if you have any questions.

Can i get a quick run down on how i boot into safe mode and reboot the machine.

I understand that you set it up in installation with a password. Then what do i do if i need to reboot.
