The best way to prevent hacking is to password protect your router (assuming its wireless) with WPA2 encryption. Some routers also allow you to make the SSID invisible. These means that the only way to connect to the network if you already know it is there, know the name of it, and can figure out the password. Figuring out a password can be anywhere from easy to hard, but determining it is there, figuring out the SSID, and the password can be a very difficult task. It is also a good idea to look in network places (simply called network in 7) in explorer from time to time. I remember ProfDLP telling us about one day seeing a computer named "BeercanBilly" connected to his network, which prompted a few changes to his security set up.

Well Pete i'm aware of that information, but don't have a wired/wireless network at home so right now that's not our concern but thanks sharing this because in India normally people (even we IT guyz & others)try to get into some1s wireless network is for FREE SURFING purpose not for any other malicious reason.

Also can you tell me (increase my knowledge) that how can 1 hack into my system through internet??? If you have seen "hackers" movie where in lead actor ( i guess his name was dave/david) hack into radio station system & play his own songs....want to know how can that be possible...

From the internet the only way I know is from keylogging and giving away personal info. For keylogging, they will have you press a link or a button saying you get whatever and that's when the keylogging starts. They can see whatever you do basically and the only way to get rid of that is reformating.

If you do that, then you should be fine

The kind of hacking shown in movies is above and beyond anything that can be actually be done.

No problem, glad to help for the very first time

And yes Pete is right. The biggest hacks I've seen are hacking admins of forums and sites like this one and changing info without being an admin or mod. For personal computers, it would be hacking into webcams and your database, which would require your personal info. Just knowing your IP can get you hacked. That's why you should becareful when joining forums because mods and admins can see your IP
