No bits of metal, im directly above the router in my house. Im sure it uses 2.0 usb ports
Erm its a wireless G usb network adapter, Model number: F5D7050aeE

And im in the same room as my laptop, but that gets better speeds :S

Take a look at Belkin and follow what it says on screen.

This will help you find the most up to date driver for your USB dongle.

Also try restating your PC and router and see what difference that makes.

Unfortunately I will not be able to offer support again for a few hours.

I wish you the best of luck.

Did you try or find the appropriate driver for your dongle?

Have you tried a different USB port?

Another thing you may want to try is, if possible, plugging your PC in via ethernet to the router.

This should get the same, if not a better speed, than your laptop.

You may also want to try disabling your built in network card, it may be that for some reason it is slowing the connection down.

When your connection started to slow down had you recently installed any new programs or had any system changes etc?

Does the usb wireless dongle work correctly on the laptop? (remember to temporarily disable the built in wireless card)

If you need any help doing any of these things please ask.

No problem, I'm glad I could help and that you got it working.

As you are new to the forum I thought you might like to know how to mark threads as solved as well as the uses of some of the other buttons, you may already know how to do this though so I just wanted to make sure .

To the top right of this post you will see 3 icons. An orange (+), a set of scales and a red and white warning triangle.

The orange (+) or blue (-) denotes whether a user is on or offline (orange = on, blue = off).

The scales are used to give rep points; click this button if someone has helped you significantly or solved your queries (only give this to posts that you think really deserve it).

The red and white warning triangle is used to denote either an abusive post OR to mark a thread as solved (just put solved in the box that comes up and the admins or moderators will mark it solved).

This thread's already marked solved (whether by you or moderator I don't know).
