RDP can't connect outside the network
Hello, I'm having some issues trying to get RDP working outside of my home network. We currently have more than one PC that we connect to using RDP, so the second computer we set up(the one I'm trying to connect to) I went into the registry and changed the listening port to 5812(a port we had previously used for another application, but we no longer use and is still forwarded/open).
I've gone into Advanced System settings and allowed remote access (double checked with a guide found on this site) for that computer. A few strange things happen when trying to connect. When trying to connect using our WAN ip like so: ip.ad.dr.ess:5812, it times out and is not able to connect at all. So, I try our LAN ip: 192.168.1.170:5812. Still nothing.
I change the listening port on that computer back to default (3389), and then try to connect: I still get nothing, but when trying to connect through LAN, 192.168.1.170 it successfully connects to it.
So I'm not quite sure what's going on that would keep it from connecting under 5812, either WAN or LAN, but perhaps someone here does?
I'd greatly appreciate the help.
