    Windows 7 Network

My HP has Windows 7 on it. I have a couple of computers on my home network and sometimes will connect to them to get documents if I do not have them on my HP. The "Network" icon that is found under "My Computer" shows me all computers on and that are connected. One in particular, when I click on it, is supposed to bring up a window to ask me for the username and password to connect to that computer. It doesn't do that anymore. When I click on that computer in the Network window, it goes to the computer's public folders. Is there a way that I can reset something so that it will ask me for the credentials to connect to that computer. It used to ask me, but not anymore...

Under the advanced sharing settings you might try setting it to use password protected sharing near the bottom of the page. There are two seperate windows for this, one for the Home or Work settings and another for the Public settings. You may need to enable password protected sharing for both.
