Audio codec is only for your sound card or chip. No good.
I guess I got a little confused (long thread) as you said it was slow, as opposed to no ip address. So, for clarification, you do have Internet access, it's just slow?

Go here: Realtek, and pick the fourth option under Windows. After the download completes, go to device manager and uninstall the old drivers. I can not stress this enough. Uninstall the old drivers. I will say it again. Uninstall the old drivers. Reboot the computer to finish the uninstall. Then install the new driver, and reboot.

I see you uninstalled the driver already. Download the new driver, and copy it to a USB flash drive or a CD and install it from there.

Turn off Windows Updates temporarily and uninstall the old drivers again.

The 8185 is the wireless device. This is the one I wanted to try to disable. What think ye, Petey?

It sounds like he wants wireless, so I think having the wired disabled and the wireless enabled is the best route for right now.
