Network between laptop (7) and desktop (XP)
Hi, Ill try to explain this as clearly as I can. I have 2 PCs, a laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate x32 and a desktop PC with Windows XP Professional x32.
The desktop PC connects to the internet through a wireless router, but with a wired connection (because it doesnt have a wireless adapter).
The laptop connects to the internet through the same wireless router, in this case with a wireless connection, as it has a wireless adapter.
The problem is, when I try to create a network between this 2 PCs to share files and printers, I cant see the laptop (win7) under My Network Places > Workgroup in the desktop pc (win xp). The same happens when i go to my laptop to check if my desktop pc appears under Network. It doesnt.
Both PCs have simple file sharing enabled, i disabled network passwords, i also tried to map network drives, the network is set to "home", nothing worked. I dont know what im doing wrong, most networking guides and walkthroughs are complicated and they didnt work for me.
Could someone please tell me what im doing wrong, or a simple step by step guide or link? Thanks!!

edit 1: not sure if this helps: the desktop xp computer has ESET Smart Security 4 and the win7 laptop has Norton Internet Security 2010
edit 2: ok, now my windows xp desktop pc can "see" itself and the laptop, but i cant enter, it says: "You might not have permission to use this network resource..." and the latptop still cant see my desktop pc...
