ipconfig/all not recognized as command - HELP!

I know very little about computers, but i was told that in order to make it so that my windows 7 labtop could receive wireless internet at my work, they needed my 'mac address'.

I was told to click on "Start" and then type "cmd" in the "run/search" box, and then right-click "command prompt" and click "run as administrator".

they then told me to enter "ipconfig/all" in the command prompt, and this would give me the info that i need...

and this is what shows up on the command prompt screen:

"'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

I have tried running command prompt without running it 'administratively', i have tried 'ipconfig /all' 'ipconfig / all' 'ipconfig', you name it... the same message shows up saying that it is not recognized as a command... any help would be greatly appreciated...

ipconfig/all is the correct command for windows 7. ipconfig/? should list all the different syntaxes that can be used. If the PC is infected with malware the executable could have been deleted or renamed to prevent you from using it.The standard path is %WINDIR%\System32\ipconfig.exe (which usually resolves to C:\WINDOWS\System32\ipconfig.exe). Have a look and see if the ipconfig.exe file is where it's supposed to be, or do a search for it. You may have to enable show hidden files to see it.

Now to address the problem at hand:
WIN key | type CMD.EXE | do NOT hit ENTER |
Right-Click on Cmd.exe in the resulting list | select Run as administrator |

You will now be at a command prompt.

Type following:
IPCONFIG /ALL and hit the ENTER key

when you want to go back just type EXIT and hit ENTER.

Incidentally,
WIN is the key with funny looking wavy flag on it.

\windows\system32\ipconfig.exe

If that's not there then he has some serious problems.

Wow, thanks guys, it turns out that "ipconfig.exe" was in my documents file (how it got there i dont know, i must have moved it by accident)... so i moved it back to system32 and all seems to be well now...

I can not tell you how much this has helped me out!

Glad you figured it out. The MAC address is what is listed as "Physical Address" under "Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection". If you have more than one network card and or a wireless card, there will be more than one in the list.

I found ipconfig in some random coded file, after hours of searching, but now, I've found it I can't find system32 can someone tell me the EXACT address? I've been trying to make a server for a month and I'm so close!!!!!!!!!!!

*EDIT* I'm even closer now that I'e found it

*EDIT 2* Now I can't move the file I should really check these things before I edit

*EDIT 3*I've entered the exact path that I KNOW ipconfig is in (copying and pasting DID NOT WORK )
yet it still says it's not recognized PLEASE HELP
