    HomeGroup Problems!

I am having problems getting my two computers to connect using homegroup.

One is a desktop which I built a few years ago. I have been running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit since like January no problem. The other is a Dell Inspiron 1525 that I just installed Home Premium 64 bit on to. I have been running Win 7 on it since January also, but decided to do a fresh install because I was having some issues on it.

Before the fresh install, the homegroup worked great. Now I cannot get it to work for the life of me.

I did search google, and saw a thread here, so I figured I would ask for some help.

Both computers are behind the same router: Actiontec PK5000
Desktop is 192.168.0.2 and the Laptop is 192.168.03 (wireless) or 192.168.04 (wired). I have the wireless turned off however, so it only is using the second IP.

I port forwarded TCP/UDP that I found on another site about a problem with firewalls. Both computers are using the stock windows firewall with AVG for AV.

The clocks are pretty much exactly the same. The only difference is maybe a few milliseconds.

I left the old group, restarted both computers multiple times, tried creating a new one on both computers also.

Every time I try, I get an error that says Invalid Password. The caps are right and everything, tried a few times, even tried changing it more than once, it never works.

    Thanks for any help.

Here are two things you can try. First, make sure both computers have the same date/time. Sometimes if the clocks are out of sync homegroups have problems. Second, make sure IPv6 is enabled on all computers.

AVG seems to be famous for causing problems with sharing, uninstalling it usually works best but there are also ways to configure it to work properly with Windows 7.

You should also go through this Homegroup trouble shooting guide which covers most other problems you might run into when setting up a Homegroup.
