    Wifi icon color?

More of a trivial question, but for anyone else who has the Windows 7 Ultimate RC, what color is your Wifi icon? I've saw screenshots of people who also have W7RC and their Wifi color is green. On my build my Wifi color is gray. It's because it was gray I initially thought my Wifi wasn't working.

    Thanks.

Hello Aln688, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It's for the signal strength. The more green the stronger the signal. :)

    Hi, aln688,

The way I understand it is that if you choose to "hide" the icon it, and all the other system type icons, will be Greyscale versions of the normal color one. this is unless it is attempting to get your attention, this is i believe an attempt to reduce distractions.

Thank you, Shawn, good to see a forum dedicated to this particular version of Windows.

Yes I realize it should be green, but on mine it's gray, and I'm only about 10 feet from my router. It's green if I click on the icon to list other networks, but once it returns it is gray. My signal strength is 90% and 300 Mbps, but still no green. Strange.

I thought for that too, but I opted to show all my icons on the taskbar and didn't want any of them hidden. I'm on build 7100 of Windows 7, I've never saw it green. I have a D-Link DWA-556 and using the Windows built-in driver, then Windows update found a slightly newer driver so I updated successfully. Before and after the driver upgrade that icon has always been gray.

    Odd.

Maybe, I changed my theme about a thousand times (to see all the backgrounds and listen to the accompanying sound schemes) and the icons never changed color, not that I expected them to. This must be a small bug then, maybe it's fixed in build 7127? It's quite obvious the Wifi icon when having a full strength connection isn't supposed to be gray. Thanks for confirming!

Yeah, I just noticed that in the notification area that the bars will be gray only. The more bars the stonger the signal. It is only green when you click on it to see the signal strengths of other network signals.
