Remote Desktop from Win 7 to XP machine

    Hi

I cant seem to be able to remote desktop to an XP SP3 machine from my Windows 7 pro desktop. My colleague who has an XP desktop can remote desktop fine to the other XP SP3 machine.

I can also remote desktop from the XP SP3 back to my Windows 7 fine but not the other way round.

Can anyone help on this please?

    Thank you

    Hi,

I have disabled the firewall on my win 7 PC. Do i need to disable it on the XP SP3?

I have run netstat -a on both machines and port 3389 is listening.

    Hi there
XP version must be XP PRO. You can't RDP to XP home even if it is at SP3 level.
You CAN RDP FROM any version of XP though.

You don't say what version of XP you are running.

    Cheers

    Hi guys,

I can ping ok from both OS. I will turn firewall of on the XP too.

Jimbo45, It is XP pro. As i have mentioned before, i can Remote desktop to this machine form another XP but not from this windows 7 which suggests it may be something up with the windows 7 desktop.

    any views?

Guys, Ive answered my own question.

I have now switched the firewall back on for both machines and it works fine.
I had to add an exception in XP firewall.
