Anyway thats not the end of the world becase this week I am fitting a new 1 tb hard drive to my home pc and when I install win7 I am going to install the 64 bit version anyway. Once done I will let you know if the home then accesses the laptops files.

Did you enable shares on both computers?
You will need to enable sharing on your laptop the same way you did with the desktop

Why win7 access home and work network in the same time
Because one PC we used to change adapter to access at home network, then it could remember and access just one network: Home network. It means correct for our purpose. But others Pc are not the same. Therefore we solve it by disable network adapter, then enable to force it access only Home network...
